Students in 4^th - 8^th grade (including 2^nd and 3^rd graders with older siblings) join in the Family Learning Cycle, using the same theme. What is My Father's World?

My Father's World is a homeschool (home education) curriculum publishing company providing complete Christian faith-based general educational curriculum for preschool through high school students.

Is My Father's World a school?

No. My Father's World is a curriculum provider. However, through our Discipleship Academies brand, we are able to help leaders start schools and microschools. You can learn more at www.discipleshipacademies.com.

Is My Father's World accredited?

No. In fact, no curriculum is. Accreditation is for institutions only based on evaluations of teacher qualifications, administration, recordkeeping, etc. If a curriculum is presenting itself as accredited, this is inaccurate. In situations like these, you are looking at a homeschool program offered through a school or other learning institution. Think of it like a distance learning program where the school is accredited but the curriculum itself is not. While this certainly says something about the school meeting certain standards of accreditation, it does not ensure the quality of a particular curriculum or guarantee that it will meet your child's individual academic needs. Remember, even the curriculum in an accredited school is not itself accredited.

What educational methodology does MFW use?

My Father's World combines the best of Charlotte Mason's ideas, Hebraic classical education, and unit studies with a biblical worldview and global focus. We have worked hard to make homeschooling as easy as possible with our God-centric curriculum mirroring the Greco-Roman classical approach of grammar, logic, and rhetoric.

Is My Father's World curriculum good for families with multiple children?

Our curriculum was developed specifically with the “one-room schoolhouse” in mind. Because of this, our curriculum works just as well with multiple children across a span of ages as it does with a single child. Using our Family Learning Cycle, the whole family learns core subjects together while completing age-appropriate work separately. Because our curriculum is structured so that concepts build on development rather than strict linear exposure, children are able to absorb content at a developmentally appropriate level regardless of where they start in the cycle.

Is My Father's World considered “open-and-go”?

Yes. The Teacher's manual features gird-style daily schedules that lay our exactly what to read, assign, and discuss. Little to no advance prep is required on a daily basis beyond fathering standard school supplies or setting up books.

How long does a normal school day take?

Preschool and PreK can be completed in approximately 60 minutes per day, kindergarten through 1^st grade, 60 to 90 minutes, 2^nd and 3^rd grades, 2 to 3 hours, 4^th through 8^th grades, 3 to 4 hours, and high school, 4 to 5 hours.

Does My Father's World cover all required subjects, or do I need to buy extra materials?

My Father's World covers Bible, History, Geography, Science, Literature, Art, and Music in their packages. However, Math and Language Arts must be added separately for grades 2-8 because these are skill-based subjects tied to individual student ability. Science must be added separately beginning with 7th grade. My Father's World provides recommended choices (like Singapore Math, Saxon Math, and Primary Language Lessons, and various science programs), but parents are free to use any curriculum. High School packages are comprehensive for History, English, and Bible (3 full high school credits), but parents must add separate Math, Science (with labs), and Foreign Language programs.
