Minutes with Marie

Overcoming

Adam and Eve were created to walk in the Garden of Eden with their Creator. Instead, they traded that right for a piece of fruit! They questioned God’s authority over them. They questioned God’s wisdom. And they listened to God’s enemy—the serpent, Satan.

Eve listened and even conversed with him as he craftily encouraged her to doubt both God’s Word and His character: “Did God really say ...?”; “You will not surely die ...” (Genesis 3:1,3).

50:20 Vision

20/20 vision is good. But there’s something much better. I pray that God would bless you with 50:20 vision. Let me explain.

We know that God is always love, and He can be trusted. Even when we experience difficult times, or people let us down, or it seems the enemy is pulling us down, we know that God is working for our good.

Mercy

I sometimes hear that the God of the Old Testament is a hard, unforgiving God, and that mercy begins in the New Testament. I disagree. God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Consider Aaron.

Aaron was Moses’ brother. He saw God miraculously release His people from Egypt. He saw the people walk through the sea.

Baby Geese

I have been watching a family of geese for the past few weeks. What fun! Five tiny goslings are “in school” under their parents’ watchful eyes. Those goslings faithfully follow their parents anywhere. God made them that way.

It is so sweet to watch the geese swim together. One parent leads, the other guards the rear from enemies.

Why Did Solomon Ask for Wisdom?

You"re probably familiar with these verses: “… God appeared to Solomon and said to him, ‘Ask for whatever you want me to give you.’ Solomon answered God, ‘… Give me wisdom and knowledge, that I may lead this people. …’ ” (2 Chron. 1:7-10)

Have you ever wondered why Solomon asked for wisdom? He could have asked for anything – riches, fame, long life, peace. Why did he ask for wisdom?
