1850 to Modern Times Teacher's Manual

Daily lesson plans are in an easy-to-use weekly chart format that lists each subject with the appropriate book titles and page numbers to complete each day and information on when and how to use Student Sheets. Most activities are suitable for all ages; some additional reading is scheduled for older students. Many simple hands-on activities are included in the Teacher's Manual to reinforce the study of history. We do the lesson planning for you so that you have more time to enjoy teaching!

The Teacher's Manual includes details on using our Math and Language Arts recommendations, which are purchased separately.

Student pages are not included in the Teacher's Manual. You will need to purchase the Student Sheets separately.

If you own an older edition of 1850 to Modern Times, consider upgrading to the current edition. The core of the program has not changed, but several books have been revised.

• In 2019, World of Science went out of print and was replaced with Exploring Creation with Chemistry and Physics. Fun with Magnets and Snap Circuits Jr. were removed from the packages.
• In 2019, books about states were updated in Book Basket.
• In 2020, the Children's Encyclopedia of American History was reprinted as American History - a visual encyclopedia. This edition is almost identical but adds historical information from the last decade.
• In 2021, The Last 500 Years was replaced with World History from Ancient to Modern Times.
• In October 2023, two new read alouds were added to the package: Salt and Light and Ivan and the Hidden Bible. These items replaced Brother Andrew and Corrie ten Boom.
  • The new resources are age-appropriate for younger siblings so the following books were removed from the 2nd/3rd Grade Supplement: Ivan and the Informer; Encyclopedia Brown, Boy Detective; Charlotte's Web; Stone Fox; and On the Banks of Plum Creek.
• In 2023, Teacher's Manual includes online access to music.
