Make a Joyful Noise

I have sung played the guitar and ukulele for about eight years, I have played drums for four years, played the bass for two years, and I recently got myself an old banjo. In addition, I have had a keyboard for a long time now and have not had the time to learn it. I have learned that one thing music does is help you express your emotions and it personally helps me praise my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. There is no better way to speak to our God than to praise Him in joyful singing voices, and nothing brings the people together like songs and music. It works wonders on people. I can't remember who I heard this from, but I heard someone say, “Music brings us where words can't.” That couldn't be truer, and it is something I have taken seriously since the first time I heard it.

Music will bring you to tears, make you happy, make you feel unease and everything in between, and music is the most perfect way to talk to God, praise God, and show God the talent He has given you. I have said and always will say that everyone should learn one instrument and use that instrument to praise our Creator. He's a good Father and loves to hear you! I have spent many evenings staying up late strumming my guitar and or ukulele and just praying and praising His name. We should call out to God mor often than just on a Sunday or Wednesday evening. There's nothing that makes Him happier than to hear you speak to Him all day, every day, just as you would with your best friend.

Years ago, I was asked to play one song for our youth group on my guitar and lead a small worship that was supposed to last 5 minutes. It ended up lasting the entire service as people responded in praise. People feel music deeply and it's much easier to connect with than anything else, in my opinion.

Psalms 100:1-3 in the English Standard Version reads, "Make a joyful noise to the Lord! All the earth! Serve the Serve the lord with gladness come into his presence with singing! Know that the Lord, He is God! It is he who made us! And we are his; we are his people and the sheep of His pasture."

If that doesn't make you feel like you should go to the Lord and express your praise and love through singing, I don't know what will! It is such a powerful way to say that you are His and you love Him. It doesn't need to be with a guitar or ukulele; you can find any worship song and dedicate some time to truly sing in worship to Him. Don't just say the words, but mean them from your bottom of your heart!
