Ministry Work
When we think of ministry work, a lot of things will come up in our minds. We may look at other people of influence and all they have accomplished. We may look at the large platforms or perhaps all the money others have given for the purpose of presenting the gospel to the world. We may disqualify ourselves or believe that we are unable to achieve these great heights others have achieved. We must remember that God has a plan and purpose for our lives for the kingdom.
Ephesians 2:10 – For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
The good works or purpose that God has prepared beforehand for us to walk in begins with a simple act of obedience. When the Lord speaks, just follow His instruction, and things will begin to build. No one that is or has been a monumental figure in ministry began there; they started with a simple yes. As they submitted to the Lord, He began to work. Just like Paul told us in 1 Corinthians 3:6, he planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase.
What we see in this is we must first say yes (the seed being planted), submitting to the Lord and His direction (will lead to partnering with others, which is the watering), and as we do this, God will bring forth the increase in the ministry for Him.
Now, to switch gears, one of the greatest ministries we have in life is to our family. Either the ministry of being a Husband, Wife, Father, or Mother. There is ministry in all of these areas.
As Fathers and Mothers, our biggest ministry is our children. We must make the effort to structure and align our homes in the biblical order that God has set. The importance of our ministry in the home is crucial because it is a requirement for external ministry to be effective. People will see the structure, the character, and attributes of the home and family, and it will provide merit to them ministering to others. Our ministry must start in our homes with our spouses and with our children. Let’s make it normal to talk about God in our homes, to read His Word, pray, live lives that are pleasing unto God, and not be afraid to do it. Little eyes are always watching, and they will follow and replicate what they see.
