An Interesting Season

Hello, well wow! It’s been an interesting few weeks here at the print shop. July through August is our busiest time of the year in the print shop, and this year has not disappointed. Besides all the orders that we get from you wonderful customers, we have outside orders from other wonderful local people, so that adds another layer to what we have to complete.

This year has been a little different in that the printers we use, particularly the C8000 color copier printer, are getting rather old. I believe I’ve mentioned this before. Well, it has gone down—or broken down—a few times in the last few weeks, and it has taken more than a day or two each time to repair it, which puts us in a bind. This machine is used primarily for covers for teachers’ manuals and student sheets, and in particular, daily lesson plans like language lessons, writing skills, and writing lessons. So those things have to wait until the machine is back up and running.

We’ve had a few instances, as I said, while all these things have been happening. I, myself, have had some breakdown issues. I have a-fib, which, as you may or may not know, means that at times my heart will beat irregularly. In my situation, when my heart does go into a-fib, my heart rate increases to anywhere from 150 to 200 beats a minute. I am usually in this a-fib for 24 to 48 hours, and this has happened in the last few weeks.

I have also had a situation with one of my eyes. For some reason, it decided to rupture a blood vessel, so there are billions of little floaties in my vision—in my right eye—which makes it a little harder to see things as clearly as I normally do. I guess these things are expected when you get into your 60s. So, I have had a few days off because of these situations. And, with us being particularly busy for this time of year and with the machines having issues, it has made for a very interesting time.

Now, all being said, we are getting our work done one way or another—either with a little extra working time or by calling in some reinforcements to help. But we have enjoyed getting these things done as we usually do. It is fun for us to do these things, and I very much enjoy them and enjoy working here. So it has not been too difficult, but it has added its challenges.

With that being said, we are still getting our things done, and you guys are doing the things that we need, which is ordering product so that you can educate your children, and we want to say thank you for that. We are grateful for what you do and that we have an opportunity to serve.

I should mention that my heart went back into rhythm, and I will eventually get back to having normal sight. So, things are fine here, and we are getting your things done. I just wanted to give a little update on the challenges that we do run into from time to time. I hope you all are doing well. Thanks for allowing us to add a little context—or content—to what My Father’s World does for you and the things that go on in the background.

Have a happy life.
