Remembering That I am Blessed

The daily temps are rising and the daily work is busy as we end another week here at My Father's World. We're entering the busiest time of year for us as orders increase every day. In these times, it's so easy to get locked in on your tasks for each day and just push yourself to get things done, and in doing so, forget what we do all this for.
Each day I start my morning off somewhere between 5:30 and 6:00 am. I arrive at the building, unlock the doors, turn on the lights, and begin my day. At this time of year, I usually start my day with these great intentions of getting a list of things completed, but as with any business during the heavy volume time of year, fires pop up everywhere throughout the day. A machine goes down at a critical time, you lose staffing in a particular area for some reason, an inventory number is off, or any number of things that can derail your day. Then, it's off to the races to get things back on track and cruising smoothly forward. It can completely drive you crazy if you let it.
I have been with the company now for over 14 years. I've seen many busy seasons and many ups and downs with each one. As in any place, it can become the routine to just put your head down and go. But then it never fails that God puts something in my path to remind me what I'm doing and why I'm doing it. It can be a book that I see, or a line of text on something we're printing, or a simple note of thank you from someone. Yesterday was one of those moments. It was a thank you - a thank you, not from our customers, but instead from a leader here at My Father's World. It was a little treat bag with some goodies and a small thank you note appreciating me for what I do for the company and our customers. It caught me off guard and made me stop for a moment and think. I took a moment to pray and thank God for where I am and what I do. Every day I get to get up and do something that can have a direct effect on people and their walk with God. I get to do things that will have a Kingdom impact on people I will never meet. When I really take a second for that to sink in, it almost overwhelms me. It really is something that I am beyond thankful for and I am truly blessed to be where I am. We all have tasks and routines that we do to get through our days, but sometimes the littlest of gestures or things can stop us and make us remember that God is with us, that we are fortunate to do the things we do, and when someone else notices, you know that person may be the someone that God sent to say thank you.
