My First Experiences Working at My Father’s World

During a transitional season in my life, I was seeking job opportunities and came across an opening at a homeschool curriculum company. I was intrigued, because though I had attended public school, my nephews had been homeschooled, and while I personally knew very little about homeschooling, I could tell both my nephews were very smart, outgoing, and involved in community activities and sports. I decided to accept the position at My Father's World, and thus began an interesting journey.

Once I started working at My Father's World, I was delighted to see all of the educational items that the company sold, and even more so when I learned that almost everything applied to Christian morals, virtues, and guidance. As a Christian, I am acute aware of the impact that kind of integration has. Using a Christ-centered curriculum from preschool to graduation makes it possible for our youth to acquire an education that prepares them to prosper on any path they desire to seek in life by teaching them to align their lives, jobs, and business decisions with God's Word.

As I continued to work at the company, I was able to see pictures that our customers would send of their families receiving their homeschool curriculum packages. The joy and excitement on those beautiful little faces were indescribable! It would thrill my heart, yet I found it confusing to see such excitement over school supplies. That was not my experience in public school when they handed me a bunch of books that I could not read to go along with a classroom closet full of broken, dirty toys that were missing parts. But it was obvious from the pictures that the curriculum packages were viewed by the children as their own personal gift, and like sponges, you could tell they were ready and willing to soak up the new lessons they were about to dive in to.

Something else that stood out to me were the exciting and heart-warming customer letters from our My Father's World families. Some of these letters were shared with us during our company's Vision Weekend events where employees and guests would look at the past and toward the future both in terms of the company vision and personally as families, trusting the Lord to guide us along our path. To my amazement, not only were the children and youth excited about the curriculum and how it impacted their lives, but the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and even friends of My Father's World families testified to the wonderful affects a Christ-centered homeschool curriculum had on them. Who would have ever imagined? God has a way of spreading His Word, wisdom, and love far beyond what we can imagine, or even fathom. What a wonderful mystery He is.
