General Science

This course is designed to be a student's first systematic introduction to the sciences. Although it can be used for eighth grade (especially if the student has recently left the public schools), it is typically used best in the seventh grade. The course introduces the general science concepts of the scientific method and earth science, including astronomy, geology, paleontology, meteorology, oceanography, as well as general biology, chemistry, and physics. Its scope, therefore, is quite wide. There are many hands-on experiments to do, and they all use household items.

Students who have little experience taking tests, which require them to truly master the course material, might have trouble with this course at first. However, the study skills required for this course are absolutely essential for high school and beyond. It is prudent, therefore, for the student to learn these skills now rather than put them off until later.

The General Science Complete Package includes:

  • Student Textbook
The Student Textbook contains all student material, study questions, lab exercises, and module study guides with color photos and illustrations.

  • Solutions and Tests Manual
The Solutions and Test Manual contains answers to review questions, practice problems, tests, and test solutions.

  • Daily Lesson Plans
Developed by My Father's World, the Daily Lesson Plans schedule daily assignments for reading and labwork. The lesson plans are included free with the complete package.

Physical Science

This course is designed to be the last science course the student takes before high school biology. Thus, we generally recommend it as an 8th grade course. However, if your student was recently in public school, he or she might need to wait until 9th grade to use it. The course discusses such topics as the atmosphere, the hydrosphere, weather, the structure of the earth, environmentalism, the physics of motion, Newton's Laws, gravity, and astrophysics. There are many hands-on experiments to do, and they all use household chemicals and supplies. It is an excellent course for preparing the student to take a college-prep high school science curriculum.

The Physical Science Complete Package includes:

  • Student Textbook
The Student Textbook contains all student material, study questions, lab exercises, and module study guides with color photos and illustrations.

  • Solutions and Tests Manual
The Solutions and Test Manual contains answers to review questions, practice problems, tests, and test solutions.

  • Multimedia Companion CD
The Multimedia Companion CD contains video clips of experiments, pronunciation of vocabulary words, and other useful information to enrich the course.

  • Daily Lesson Plans
Developed by My Father's World, the Daily Lesson Plans schedule daily assignments (four days a week) for reading, labwork, and the Multimedia Companion CD. The lesson plans are included free with the complete package.

Biology

The course covers topics such as body systems, classifications of species, the chemistry of life, ecosystems, and genetics. Students also take a look at the theory of evolution including macroevolution and microevolution. During this study of God's creation of living organisms, the student will have the opportunity (with the optional dissection kit) to dissect an earthworm, perch, crawfish, and frog. Additional hands-on experiments are used to involve students in this fascinating study of biology and to prepare them for college classes.

Note: Many of the biology experiments use household items. To complete optional dissection and/or microscope labs, you will need to purchase additional materials. Ordering information is provided in the Daily Lesson Plans developed by My Father's World.

The Biology Complete Package includes:

Chemistry

3rd Edition (revised 2nd printing now available)

This course is designed to be a first-year high school chemistry course and gives the students a rigorous foundation in chemistry, in order to prepare them for a college-level course. The course covers significant figures, units, classification, the mole concept, stoichiometry, thermochemistry, thermodynamics, kinetics, acids and bases, redox reactions, solutions, atomic structure, Lewis structures, molecular geometry, the gas laws, and equilibrium. While the laboratory experiments are designed for the home, some of them are easier with specialized equipment. All of the chemicals used in this course consist of household materials such as table salt, baking soda, dish soap, vinegar, etc. Students who take and understand this course will be very well-prepared for a tough university chemistry course.

Note: We do not currently have lesson plans for the 3rd edition.

Prerequisite: Algebra 1

The Chemistry Package includes:

  • Student Textbook
The Student Textbook contains all student material, on-your-own questions and solutions, laboratory exercises, and module study guides.

  • Solutions and Tests Manual
The Solutions and Test Manual contains answers to module study guides, tests, and test solutions.

Physics

This college-prep physics course is designed for the student who has completed algebra and has had an introduction to the definitions of sine, cosine, and tangent. It provides a detailed introduction to the methods and concepts of general physics, heavily emphasizing vector analysis; this text is ideal preparation for a university-level physics course. It provides the student with a strong background in one-dimensional and two-dimensional motion, Newton's laws and their application, gravity, work and energy, momentum, periodic motion, waves, optics, electrostatics, electrodynamics, electrical circuits, and magnetism.

Prerequisite: Geometry, Algebra 2

The Physics Complete Package includes:

Anatomy - Advanced Biology

This college-prep biology course is designed for the student who has completed biology and chemistry. Completing both Exploring Creation With Biology and The Human Body gives students the equivalent of a university biology course, covering a typical "advanced placement" (AP) curriculum, and preparing students for the AP (Advanced Placement) or CLEP (College Level Examination Program) tests. The The Anatomy Coloring Book is not a child's coloring book! Use of this book is one of the best ways to learn and memorize anatomical details and nomenclature. Many college and medical students use this book in their study of human anatomy.

Note: We do not currently have lesson plans for this edition.

Prerequisite: Biology, Chemistry

The Anatomy - Advanced Biology Package includes:

  • Student Textbook
The Student Textbook contains all student material, study questions, laboratory exercises, and module study guides with color photos and illustrations.

  • Solutions and Tests Manual
The Solutions and Test Manual contains tests, test solutions, and answers to the module study guides.

  • Anatomy Coloring Book
The Anatomy Coloring Book contains detailed drawings of all the anatomy that you need to learn in this course and more. The review provided by the coloring exercises is invaluable, use of this book is one of the best ways to learn and memorize anatomical details and nomenclature.

Lesson Plans

Daily Lesson Plans developed by My Father's World schedule daily assignments (four days a week) for reading, labwork, and the optional Multimedia Companion CD. This makes it much easier for students to complete the course independently. Also included are reminders to gather or purchase needed items such as balloons or vinegar. Lesson plans are included free with our complete science packages.

Note: We do not currently have lesson plans for Chemistry and Anatomy-Advanced Biology.
